March set Saturday morning to support deputy with cancer

Santa Clarita Valley residents are invited to join in a march Saturday morning to show support for a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy and U.S. Army veteran who is fighting a rare form of cancer.

The 13.5-mile simulated military-style march will help raise funds for Deputy Luis Gaxiola, who is stationed at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The march begins at the Valencia Library and ends at Jersey Mike’s at 26510 Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus. Jersey Mike’s will donate 15 percent of sales that day to the Gaxiola family for those who present a flyer or digital image about the march when ordering their food.

Marchers are encouraged to make donations for the Gaxiola family at the beginning of the event.

The briefing will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, and the march begins at 10 a.m. All residents are invited to participate, walking at their own pace, and military garb is appreciated but not required.
