CIF Creates Open Division For Boys And Girls Basketball Playoffs
The CIF Southern Section has created an open division for boys and girls basketball.
As many as 16 teams will be selected to play in the open division basketball playoffs. There will be 11 other divisions in the CIF Southern Section. The top division will be 1AA.

The Valencia and West Ranch boys play in the Southern Section Division 1A. The Valencia girls play in Division 1AA.
In high school football, the battle for first place in the Foothill League takes place tonight at College of the Canyons.
Hart, the No. 1 ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division, plays Valencia, the No. 4 team in the Northern Division.
Both teams are undefeated in the Foothill League with 3-0 records.
Listen to the game between Hart and Valencia tonight on AM 1220, KHTS. The pregame show starts at 6:45. Kickoff is at 7.
In other action in the Foothill League, West Ranch plays Canyon at Valencia High School.
Canyon is 2-1 in the Foothill League and is coming off a heartbreaking, 35-28, loss to Valencia.
West Ranch won its first Foothill League game of the season last week against Golden Valley.
Across town, Golden Valley plays Saugus at Canyon High School.
Both teams are 0-3 in the Foothill League. Saugus lost to Hart last week. Golden Valley has never won a Foothill League game.
In baseball, the Dodgers declined the 2014 contract options on Mark Ellis and Chris Capuano. Both players can become free agents.
Ellis is 36 years old and hit .264 over the past two seasons as the Dodgers starting second baseman.
The 35-year-old Capuano was 16-19 with a 3.91 ERA in two seasons with the Dodgers.
In the NBA, the Clippers won their first game of the season, 126-115, over the Golden State Warriors.
Chris Paul scored 42 points and had 15 assists and six steals.
Next up for the Clippers are the Kings tonight in Sacramento.
